Atlantic Beverage Company, Inc. changes name to Atlantic Premium Brands, Ltd.


NORTHBROOK, IL--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 22, 1997--Atlantic Beverage Company, Inc. (Nasdaq:ABEV) today announced that at its Annual Meeting held in Northbrook, Illinois on May 15, 1997, its shareholders approved the name change to Atlantic Premium Brands, Ltd. The change will become effective June 1, 1997 upon the filing of an amendment to the Company's Certificate of Incorporation certificate of incorporation n. some states issue a certificate to prove a corporation's existence upon the filing of Articles of Incorporation. In most states the Articles are sufficient proof. . For the time being, the ticker symbol Ticker Symbol

 will remain (Nasdaq:ABEV), although the Company is considering alternatives.

The Company's new name, Atlantic Premium Brands, Ltd. reflects the Company's expansion beyond its origins in the beverage distribution business. In 1996, the Company initiated the implementation of a new corporate growth strategy aimed at increasing shareholder value. As a result, the Company completed five food industry acquisitions during 1996, increasing sales from approximately $20 million to approximately $150 million and increasing total assets from approximately $3 million to approximately $35 million. With earnings of $0.17 per share, 1996 also represented the Company's first profitable year as a public company.
