Atipa Technologies Launches AMD Opteron Processor-Based 64-Bit Computational Cluster.

Business Editors/High-Tech Writers

LAWRENCE, Kan.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 22, 2003

Atipa Technologies announced today that it will offer its new Talladega-64 computer systems to the scientific and business communities. Atipa's Talladega-64 supports the AMD (Advanced Micro Devices, Inc., Sunnyvale, CA, www.amd.com) A major manufacturer of semiconductor devices including x86-compatible CPUs, embedded processors, flash memories, programmable logic devices and networking chips.  Opteron(TM) processor.

For many years, Atipa Technologies has deployed world-class, Beowulf-class supercomputers and high-performance computing High-speed computing, which typically refers to supercomputers used in scientific research.  solutions in almost every major university, research laboratory and Fortune 500 Company in the U.S. Now, Atipa will offer 64-bit x86 systems that will raise the bar in commodity computing.

The Talladega-64 series will spearhead this new standard of commodity computing products. The new AMD Opteron(TM) processor-based systems will be built according to the quality standards of its ISO- iso- or is-

Already, Atipa Technologies has seen an overwhelming demand for the new Talladega-64 systems. "We are pleased that Advanced Micro Devices is working directly with Atipa to provide a positive launch of this new technology," commented Bret Stouder, Director of Atipa Technologies. "We believe the Talladega-64 with AMD64 technology will be heavily accepted in the open source community for both server and desktop applications."

Atipa's first Talladega-64 system, a 33-node (66-processor) system has been delivered to COLSA COLSA College of Life Sciences and Agriculture (University of New Hampshire)  Corporation of Huntsville, Ala., for their continuing studies of high-performance computing in support of their customer, the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM AMCOM Aviation and Missile Command (US Army) ). As an added benefit, this technology will also reduce overall supercomputing costs through the use of new cluster technology. The features of the new AMD Opteron(TM) processor-based systems include:

-- Simultaneous 32- and 64-bit high-performance computing

-- HyperTransport(TM) technology designed to increase the

communication speed between integrated circuits in computers,

servers, embedded systems, and networking and

telecommunications equipment up to 48 times faster than some

existing technologies

"Atipa is gaining significant momentum in the scientific and business computing communities and AMD is working cooperatively to help ensure that our shared customers can reap the benefits of Atipa's Talladega-64 servers based on the AMD Opteron processor," said Ben Williams, director, AMD's Server/Workstation Business Segment. "AMD Opteron processors offer native support for 32- and 64-bit computing and can dramatically boost system performance for high-performance computing."

Atipa offers customers a single point of contact for delivering turnkey Linux-based solutions, including software, hardware, appliances, support and professional services. Atipa Technologies has a unique ability to provided quality systems that meet ISO-Certified standards at a price that keeps its solutions not only available for U.S. researches but, those worldwide.
