The indoor athletics season at Gateshead International Stadium reaches the half-way point tonight, when the programme will include triple jump and pole vault pole vault

N VETERANS AA North East, together with North Shields Coordinates:

North Shields (or locally just Shields) is a town on the north bank of the River Tyne, in the metropolitan borough of North Tyneside, in North East England. It is located eight miles (13 km) east of Newcastle upon Tyne.
 Poly, promote the Vets Open Cross-Country Championships on Saturday, February 5, at Fox Hunter Playing Fields, Whitley Bay Whitley Bay, town (1991 pop. 36,040), North Tyneside metropolitan district, NE England, on the North Sea. Formerly the urban district of Whitley and Monkseaton, Whitley Bay was chartered as a municipal borough in 1954. .

The two-race programme starts at 11.30am with the women and over-70 men's 6km event which is followed by the main 9.5km race at noon.

It is situated a few miles south-east of Durham City, on the road (A177) to the village of Bowburn. , Durham DH1 2YJ.

N ATHLETES and officials, indeed anyone interested in the welfare of the sport, are invited to County Hall, Durham on Tuesday, February 1 (7pm), when the UK Athletics roadshow rolls into the region.

The series of consulation talks summarising the re-modernisation of athletics in the UK will highlight key decisions which need to be made this year.

The meeting will discuss the proposals and the next steps required to implement them.

It is hoped a big number will turn out to hear the project team's main recommendations.

N LAST year's British Masters Cross-Country Championships were held on the doorstep at Durham.

However, athletes have much further to travel this time round when the championships move to Castle Park, Bangor, Northern Ireland on Saturday, March 12.

The four-race programme starts at noon and entries should be sent to BNAF BNAF Bureau of National Affairs, Inc.  XC Championship, c/o 1 Wilmont Park, Dunmurry, Belfast, BT17 9JW, by February 23.

N ONCE again Geoff Rippon, of Sunderland Harriers, is organising travel and accommodation for the London Marathon on Sunday, April 11.

N CHESTER-LE-STREET AC's annual road races take place on Sunday, March 13.

The nine-race programme starts at 11am from the Riverside sports complex.
