The Sandgrounders' Steve James and Sue Cooper helped England to teamwins in the Over 65 and Over 50 age groups in the British and Irish Masters' Championships held at Stormont Castle near Belfast. This weekend the main cross country event is the UK Challenge match run alongside both the Liverpool and District and Mid Lancs League races at Sefton Park. The Challenge event includes the UK trials for the European Cross Country Championships. Numerous local athletes have entered.
