BIRMINGHAM sprint queen Sonia Lannaman Sonia Lannaman (born 24 March, 1956) is a British athlete who competed mainly in the 100 metres.

She won the 100 metres gold medal and 200 metres silver metres in the 1978 Commonwealth Games for England.
 has been given a major boost in her preparations for the MOSCOW Olumpies.

The 23-years-old athlete has leaned that her employers, Abbey Life Assurance, will grant her leave of absence on full pay next year to step up her training.

The company, for whom Sonia works at Edgbaston as areceptionist, has already given her pounds 1,000 sponsorship.
