Athletics: ROCKET RHYS JUST LIKE DAD.

RHYS WILLIAMS runs for Britain at the World Championships today - after revealing the stick he used to get playing rugby because of his famous dad.

JJ Williams was one of the greats of the Welsh game. He was capped 30 times and as a winger scored four tries on the British Lions' historic Test series win in South Africa in 1973.

Rhys, 21, is a 400m hurdler who won the European Under-23 title last month.

He makes his debut at a major senior championships today and is aiming a for a personal best.

"I played rugby at school but I used to get stick because of who my dad was," he said. "The big lads used to have a go at me."

JJ will watch him. "I never pushed Rhys into playing rugby. We let all our children take their own paths," he said.
