Athletics: Lee strides out for creditable third.

LIVERPOOL Harrier Lee Siemaszko produced a good run to finish among the leading contenders in the the Mid Lancs Red Rose Cross Country League event.

Competing as a guest, Siemaszko came third on the difficult course at Burnley over seven miles.

Pembroke Sefton's Joe Parkinson Joe Parkinson (born June 11, 1971 in Eccles, Greater Manchester) is a former professional footballer, who played in midfield for Wigan Athletic, A.F.C. Bournemouth and Everton.  ran very well at the annual Preston 10, coming seventh with a time of 55m 57.

Sue Cooper (Southport Waterloo) finished second in the Veteran over-45 in 62m 33and fifth overall.

There should be a strong local contingent at the North of England indoor annual championships in January on the new indoor 200m track, adjacent to the Manchester Commonwealth Stadium.

A new range of indoor events include multi events on the weekend of 11-12, catering for pentathlons for Under-15, Under-17, junior and senior women and a two-day heptathlon heptathlon: see under decathlon.
