The Leicester-based Birchfield Harrier harrier, breed of dog
harrier, breed of medium-sized hound whose origin is obscure but whose existence in England dates from the 13th cent. It stands from 19 to 21 in. (48.3–53.3 cm) high at the shoulder and weighs from 40 to 50 lb (18.1–22.
 consolidated her position as Britain's third best thrower behind Phillippa Roles and Emma Carpenter, who are in Beijing.

Francis will have to throw beyond 62 metres to challenge for top spot and Birchfield team boss Lyn Orbell said: "I can't see Eden doing that this season but at 19-years-old she clearly has a big future." Eden is coached by her mother, Glenys Morton, at her home Saffron saffron, name for a fall-flowering plant (Crocus sativus) of the family Iridaceae (iris family) and also for a dye obtained therefrom. The plant is native to Asia Minor, where for centuries it has been cultivated for its aromatic orange-yellow stigmas (see  Lane track in Leicester but has been competing for Birchfield for the past two seasons.

She also cleared 15.78 metres in the shot, while Halesowen AC's Rachel Wallader won the B event with 13.44 metres.

Birchfield's Aimee Palmer won the long jump with 5.58 metres.

Eddie Okoro upset the applecart in the men's sprint hurdles.

Although competing as the Midland B contestant, he clocked a winning 14.81secs, faster than the A hurdler, fellow Birchfield athlete Robert James Robert Sallee James (17 July, 1818 - 18 August, 1850) was a pastor and father of four children including the James outlaws... Frank and Beans a.k.a. The James Brothers. Born in Logan County, Kentucky, U.S. he met Zeralda Cole they married on 28 December, 1841. , second in 15.38secs.

Birchfield's Holly Smith won the 3,000 metres walk in 15mins 56.62secs. Keira Rayment clocked 17mins 40.85secs.

Scotland won ahead of the North with the Midlands third.
