Jamaica's Walker, the Olympic champion, was never under any pressure as she dominated the race to win in 53.73 seconds but Danvers, just as she did in Gateshead on Sunday, lost second place to her Polish rival by 0.03sec, clocking 54.79.

Lisa Dobriskey was never in contention over 1500m as Maryam Jamal, who faltered in the Olympic final when a clear leader, won in a fast time of 3min 59.84sec.

Dobriskey, who was never really in the race, finished in 4:05.18 with the USA's Shannon Rowbury the runner-up in 4:01.97.

Nicola Sanders claimed third in the 400m 'B' race in a time 51.11sec with Jamaican Novlene Williams, who took the bronze medal behind her in last year's World Championships, winning in 50.33sec.

Olympic finalist Sarah Claxton finished last in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.22sec, Jamaica's Delloreen Ennis- London storming over the final barriers to win in 12.60sec.
