Athletics: Ace Nuttall is on top form at Iceland games.

DEESIDE athlete Rebecca Nuttall turned in a superb performance for Wales as she won the 1,500m at the Reykjavik International Games in Iceland.

The 18-year-old, who now represents Liverpool Harriers on the track, took a massive 10 seconds off her personal best to cross the line in 4:37.28.

That shot her up to fifth in the UK under-20 rankings.

In September, Nuttall set a new age-group record of 39.20 in winning the U20 title in the North Wales North Wales (known in some archaic texts as Northgalis) is the northernmost unofficial region of Wales, bordered to the south by Mid Wales and to the east by England.  10k championship in Mold, and went on to win the junior ladies' race by a huge margin in the Welsh inter-regional cross-country championships in Wrexham in December.

Tomorrow sees the return of one of North Wales' longest-established races, the Twin Piers 10k between Llandudno and Colwyn Bay Colwyn Bay (kôl`wĭn), Welsh Bae Colwyn, town (1991 pop. 27,002), Conwy, N Wales. It is a popular seaside resort. Colwyn Bay has an amusement park, several theaters, a zoo, a botanic garden, and the Pwllychrochan Woods. . The field of over 400 is the largest for many years.

Also tomorrow is the Tarren Hendre fell race at Abergynolwyn, near Tywyn. The six-mile race involves 2,000 feet of climbing. Tomorrow night Clwydian Hill Runners stage the first of the Dash in the Dark three-race series at Llandegla Forest Llandegla Forest (Coed Llandegla in Welsh) is a forest of planted conifers covering 6.5 square kilometres in Denbighshire, north-east Wales. It is situated to the south-east of the village of Llandegla at the north-western edge of Ruabon Moors. .

In February Welsh Athletics is to hold two workshops at the North Wales Indoor Athletics Centre, Deeside. On February 14 the focus will be on endurance, race tactics and competition strategies, while the session on the 22nd will target sprinters.
