Holding down a strong second among overall athletic apparel is Adidas (Portland, Oregon) with a market share of 13.1%. After one quarter last year, Adidas was in the same position, holding the second highest overall market share (20.8%). In 2000, Adidas also ranks second in outerwear (17.7%), shorts/miscellaneous (14.6%) and third in fleecewear (14.5%). Although number two overall, Adidas is the number one athletic apparel manufacturer for boys (18.6%) and girls (17.1%).

While remaining third in overall market share, Columbia continues to dominate the outerwear market with a 27.8% market share, up from last year's first quarter share of 23.7%. Although Russell ranks fifth in overall market share, they continue to rank number one in fleecewear with a 29.1% share.
