Athena Technologies Breaks Ground on New Corporate Office, Manufacturing and R&D Building.

WARRENTON, Va. -- Athena Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of flight control and navigation systems for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), today announced the start of the company's new 43,000-sq.-ft. corporate office building in the Vint Hill Tech Park in Warrenton, Virginia. Dr. David Vos, Athena CEO and CTO, hosted a ground breaking ceremony commemorating the new construction and was joined by three local government dignitaries: Congressman Frank Wolf, 10th District, Virginia; Chairman Ray Graham, Fauquier County Board of Supervisors; and Chairman Chris Johnson, Vint Hill Economic Development Authority.

The new facility is being built to accommodate Athena's phenomenal growth of 1200% since 2001. Athena was named Number 14 on Deloitte's "Technology Fast 50" list of Virginia's fastest-growing technology companies, and 157th in the nation. Dr. Vos was just named a finalist in the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards in the Greater Washington region, finishing within the top four emerging company CEOs.

Athena provides flight control and navigation solutions, essentially the "brains," for the majority of the major UAV programs today, tallying well over 100,000 flight hours in Operation Iraqi Freedom. In addition, Athena is leading some of the most important work being done today to integrate manned and unmanned aircraft in the Commercial Air Space, including demonstrating cutting-edge technology that can compensate for damage or other problems sustained by aircraft in flight and enable an aircraft to complete a flight and land safely. Athena's subscale F-18 UAV, which will be used to demonstrate this Damage Tolerance technology later this year, was on display at the ceremony.
