Mr. Krofchak, is a respected independent engineer with over 20 years in the Canadian industry. He is president of David Krofchak & Associates Inc., a civil and chemical engineering design and contracting company. Mr. Krofchak holds many industrial patents in Canada. The majority of these patents are concerned with process improvement in the steel industry. David Krofchak recently sold to Ateba the rights to a patent for a process for the treatment of phosphate rock tailings Tailings (also known as tailings pile, tails, leach residue, or slickens[1]) are the materials left over[2] after the process of separating the valuable fraction from the worthless fraction of an ore. . The present industry practice involves impounding im·pound tr.v. im·pound·ed, im·pound·ing, im·pounds 1. To confine in or as if in a pound: capture and impound stray dogs. 2. tailings or slimes behind containment dams. These slimes contain up to 35 percent unrecovered phosphate rock. The invention is a process by which a phosphate rock product can be separated and collected for sale. Ateba is presently evaluating the market for fine grained phosphate rock. Initial studies suggest that market potential is large and global.
