Economic development. You hear that two-word phrase all the time. But what does it really mean?

In its simplest terms, economic development is a process--typically a long-term Long-term

Economic development has always been critical to Southeast Michigan Southeast Michigan, also called Southeastern Michigan, is a region in the Lower Peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan that is home to a majority of the state's businesses and industries, and is home to slightly over half the state's population. . The Partnership is a public-and private-sector effort representing the 10 counties of Southeast Michigan and the city of Detroit (see map on page 25), along with 100 private-sector investors. It works closely with local economic development agencies in the region to position the Detroit Region in the global marketplace.

In addition to bringing new business to the region, the Partnership, now in its second five-year phase, is dedicated to helping your company:

* Expand your customer base.

* Increase your product line.

* Go global.
