At the Billingham Press dinner dance; The Ex-pats.AS a regular reader of Remember When, which is sent to Ray Illing in Australia by his wife's uncle, Ray appreciated our photographs of Billingham Press staff in Issue 66. He believes the photograph would have been sent by Ivan Harrington, not Ian. Ray writes: The unknown person in the photograph was David Brown David Brown may refer to any of the following people:
In 1955 I met my future wife, Dorothy Robson, who was a pay clerk at Billingham Press, and we married in 1958. As it is our 50th wedding anniversary next year I would appreciate it if you could help us find Alan Braithwaite. He was our best man and was last heard of as working at Oxbridge Ford, but that was many years ago. Also, we would like to make contact with Jean Parry (her maiden name maiden name n. A woman's family name before she is married. Used of a surname that is replaced by a woman when she marries. Also called birth name. ) who also worked at Billingham Press in the late fifties. Attached is a photograph of Billingham Press annual dinner dance held in 1955/6. In the centre of the photograph is the Dodds family who ran the company. Dorothy and I are second back row just under the back row girls. If anyone can help Ray with news of Alan Braithwaite of Jean Perry, he can be contacted at rilling@bigpond.net.au CAPTION(S): ANNUAL DINNER DANCE: The Dodds family, who ran Billingham Press, are in the centre of the picture |
