At any given time, U.S. aircraft carriers are conducting a variety of missions in locations around the globe. From the Atlantic to the Pacific to the Arabian Gulf Arabian Gulf: see Persian Gulf. , from training exercises to maritime security operations Maritime Security Operations (MSO) is a term for the actions of modern naval forces to "combat sea–based terrorism and other illegal activities, such as hijacking, piracy, and slavery, also known as human trafficking.  during regular deployments, the carriers ensure readiness while maintaining a global presence. The following images highlight the activities of some of our carriers as they were in fall 2005.
