At its annual meeting held last month in St. Louis, the Mid America CropLife Association (MACA) elects its 2009-2010 officers: Pres John McKinney, Helena Chemical Company (center, front row); VP David Flakne, Syngenta Crop Protection, and Sec/Treas Matt Wagner, Banjo Corporation. Jim Lehman, AMVAC, (2nd from 1, front row) will serve as Immediate Past Pres.

It also honored several ag industry leaders including (inset 1 to r) CropLife Ambassador of the Year Award--Annette Degnan, CHS; Industry Vision Award--Tom Rosen, Pres/CEO of Rosen's Diversified; Dean Roy Achievement Award--Duane Mol, Mgr, Chemical Sales for Crop Production Services, Galesburg, IL; Ruth White Media Award--Lynn Henderson, Publisher/Editorial Dir of Agri Marketing magazine, and Educator of the Year Award--Dr. Bill Johnson, Assoc Professor of Weed Science at Purdue University (not shown).

Its CropLife Ambassador Network (CAN) introduces "Think like a Farmer" a free web-based outreach education program for students in fourth grade or higher.

It examines the water cycle and its relationship with farming including precipitation, surface run-off, surface and ground water use and transpiration tie the issue to curriculum standards and showcases farmer's accomplishments in improving the quality of the nation's waters.
