LA JOLLA, Calif. -- Logitech Debuts Mobile Freedom Headset with Innovative WindStop Feature and Adaptive Frequency Hopping Technology

Logitech (SWX:LOGN) (Nasdaq:LOGI), a leading provider of Bluetooth(R) peripherals, today unveiled an affordable Bluetooth mobile phone headset, the Logitech(R) Mobile Freedom(TM) Headset. This new headset features a unique, lightweight design, the latest Bluetooth 1.2 chipset, which includes Adaptive Frequency Hopping (AFH) technology to reduce problematic Wi-Fi interference, and the company's patent-pending WindStop(TM) technology, so people can make calls even in windy conditions. The Logitech Mobile Freedom Headset is the first of two mobile Bluetooth headsets to be introduced by Logitech this fall.

Logitech designed the new Logitech Mobile Freedom Headset to meet concerns of people on the go: comfortable fit, stability, and reduced noise interference. Extensive research went into the design of the flexible over-ear, wrap-around earpiece -- by using this comfortable over-ear design in combination with a soft-padded earpiece, Logitech has created a headset with the unique combination of comfort and stability, without compromising sound quality. The Mobile Freedom Headset is lightweight, weighing less than 1 ounce, and easily fits on either ear. But, the most exceptional feature of this headset is its patent-pending WindStop technology.

Wind noise is a major problem for mobile phones -- even a car's air conditioning fan can cause wind interference. So, Logitech developed WindStop -- an innovation that surrounds the microphone in an "acoustical controlled porosity barrier" to reduce the disruptive effects of wind noise, enabling clear conversations in adverse conditions. What's more, WindStop not only offers better wind-noise reduction than expensive DSP (digital signal processor) solutions, but also does so without adding weight, power consumption or expense. The Mobile Freedom Headset also includes noise-canceling technology, which works to keep background noises at bay in busy places such as airports, restaurants and playgrounds.

Bluetooth mobile phones sales are climbing -- IDC predicts Bluetooth mobile phone unit sales will increase 106 percent from 2004 to 2005. "Analysts agree that the market for Bluetooth mobile phones is growing at a fast pace," said Ray Weikel, director of product marketing for Logitech's Audio Business Unit. "Given this emerging market and an ever greater range of available product options, the time is right to offer a Bluetooth headset that combines affordability and comfort with innovative technology such as WindStop, which solves a real problem."

The Logitech Mobile Freedom Headset offers seven hours of continuous talk time and up to 300 hours of standby time. This means that the headset needs recharging only half as often as the mobile phone. The product includes a call/answer button located directly on the headset, so people can conduct calls without having to pick up the phone. The Logitech Mobile Freedom Headset also supports several features built into many handsets, such as voice dialing, three-way calling, and mute.

Along with the Logitech Mobile Freedom Headset, Logitech will release another Bluetooth headset this fall, the Logitech(R) Mobile Pro(TM) Headset. The Logitech Mobile Pro Headset includes Bluetooth 1.2 technology for faster connect time, improved quality of sound, and AFH (Adaptive Frequency Hopping) for less interference from other 2.4 GHz systems such as Wi-Fi. The headset offers 30 feet of cordless freedom, up to eight hours of continuous talk time and more than three weeks of standby time. This headset is specifically designed for road warriors, who need to quickly and easily deploy and use their headset without stopping to adjust it -- fingertip controls make it possible to call, answer and mute phone calls, as well as to control the volume level directly from the headset. The Logitech Mobile Pro Headset uses the same award-winning headset design as the Logitech Mobile Bluetooth headset, with a flexible soft touch wrap-around design that fits comfortably on either ear. It includes a sophisticated noise-canceling microphone and a 20 mm speaker driver, which brings added clarity to phone conversations. This headset also includes a protective carrying case that doubles as the recharging unit.
