At Equity Office, PC Also Means ``Perfect for Charity''.

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 13, 1999--

When a cutting-edge company undertakes a national technology systems upgrade, it can have some rather unexpected benefactors -- charities and other not-for-profit organizations.

Such is the case at Equity Office Properties Trust Equity Office Properties Trust, headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, is the largest owner of office buildings in the United States. It was formed in 1976 by Samuel Zell [1] and in February 2007, was acquired by the Blackstone Group for $23 billion plus the assumption of  (NYSE NYSE

In Equity Office's Pacific Region, for example, many of its 60 nearly-new computers taken off-line are now hard at work in organizations ranging from a Boston inner-city school serving underprivileged kids to an independent care facility for senior citizens in Los Angeles.

At the 1400-resident senior living center in downtown Los Angeles Downtown Los Angeles is the central business district of Los Angeles, California, located close to the geographic center of the metropolitan area. Now the technologically savvy residents are connected -- better and faster -- with their families and friends.

Equity Office's Pacific Region has developed a system for identifying, evaluating and documenting computer equipment that can no longer be used in its state-of-the-art operations ... and determining charitable organizations that would most benefit from their gift.

Chicago-based Equity Office is currently attempting to expand this program as a best practice nationally.
