Today at the Enterprise Management Summit in Santa Clara, CA, PLATINUM technology, inc. is demonstrating its integrated, single-vendor solution for enterprise systems management. PLATINUM, Computer Associates, and Novell were the three vendors selected to participate in the Summit's Enterprise Management Theater. In the Theater, PLATINUM is simulating a real-world customer scenario solving 15 typical IT challenges encountered in major organizations every day. PLATINUM's customized approach to addressing user needs, combined with its extensive line of systems management tools, has allowed the company to solve this complex scenario using its own products entirely.

The Enterprise Management Theater

For this year's Enterprise Management Theater, the Summit conference committee developed a scenario containing 15 problems and tasks that confront IT professionals daily. Situations presented in the scenario include: an illegal host accessing the network, excessive LAN traffic, servers disconnected from the network, full UNIX file systems, a help desk initiating a trouble ticket, software distribution tasks, and many other activities.

To address these situations in the Theater, PLATINUM has assembled a representative distributed enterprise environment, including networked servers and workstations running different versions of UNIX, Windows NT, Windows95, and numerous databases and applications. PLATINUM is showing how its products work together, managed from a central point of control, to solve each of the situations.
