At 63, Neeley is Jesus - again.
A rock musical about the life of Jesus and a children's theater musical about the life of Charlie Brown are opening on area stages this week.
OPENING THIS WEEK
Jesus Christ Superstar
Tuesday through March 1
The Andrew Lloyd Webber rock 'n' roll musical about the last seven days of Jesus' life and his betrayal by Judas Iscariot was condemned by some Christians as sacrilegious when it first came out in the 1970s. These days, it's as likely as not to be put on by church groups.
In a bit of a second coming, Ted Neeley will play Jesus in this traveling production out of New York. The 63-year-old actor had the same role in the 1973 movie version.
``Jesus Christ Superstar'' will have a three-day midweek run in Eugene. Shows begin at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and March 1 at the Hult Center, Seventh Avenue and Willamette Street.
Tickets are $27.50 to $47.50 through the Hult box office, 682-5000, or at www.hultcenter.com.
