A rock musical about the life of Jesus and a children's theater musical about the life of Charlie Brown are opening on area stages this week.

In a bit of a second coming, Ted Neeley will play Jesus in this traveling production out of New York New York, state, United States

. The 63-year-old actor had the same role in the 1973 movie version.

``Jesus Christ Superstar'' will have a three-day midweek run in Eugene. Shows begin at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and March 1 at the Hult Center, Seventh Avenue and Willamette Street.

SPRINGFIELD - Spend a day in the life of Charlie Brown as interpreted in a production of the musical by Rose Children's Theatre.

Based on the popular comic strip by the late Charles Schultz, the show is directed by Debi Noel. It has a cast of 40 children from ages 8 to 15.

Charlie Brown is played by Spencer Hansen, 11; Sally Brown by Hannah Miller, 12; Lucy Van Pelt Lucy van Pelt is a fictional character in the syndicated comic strip Peanuts, written and drawn by Charles Schulz. She is the older sister of Linus and Rerun. Lucy is a crabby and cynical eight-year-old girl, and is often mean to the other characters in the strip,  by Emma Sohlberg, 13; Linus Van Pelt Linus van Pelt is one of the characters in Charles M. Schulz's comic strip Peanuts.
