) has announced the introduction of a revolutionary 18-channel portable data acquisition and recording system.

Designated the Dash 18, the powerful unit was designed and engineered for testing and troubleshooting applications in aerospace, automotive, electric utility, telecommunications, pulp and paper, metals manufacturing, steel mills, medical, and other industrial, scientific, and educational fields.

The Dash 18 is the first portable system with the capability of capturing digital video snapshots and audio, along with waveform The shape of a signal. See wavelength, sine wave and square wave.  data. The video data is time stamped See timestamp.  and synchronized syn·chro·nize

With advanced hardware and extremely sophisticated software the Dash 18 has extraordinary power. Despite its small size, the Dash 18 is suitable for applications that previously required several instruments. The 15.4" high-resolution (1280x1024) color display permits the user to view and analyze data in real time, and also serves as a touch panel interface. The customizable touch-panel user interface transforms the Dash 18 into a dedicated data acquisition system for a wide range of applications.

All of the features of a high-speed recorder and waveform data acquisition system are incorporated in the Dash 18, along with a revolutionary new feature: synchronized digital video snapshots and audio recording. Review and analysis of waveforms is greatly simplified by the user's ability to see and hear exactly what transpired during points of interest.

The company believes the potential market for the Dash 18 to be quite significant, as its unique touch-screen set-up ability opens an enormous window for cross-industry applications. Loaded with features previously found only in high priced multiple laboratory systems, the Dash 18, weighing only 25 lbs, greatly simplifies data acquisition in the field.

The Dash 18 will sell for approximately $18,000 and will be available early in 2001.

The Test and Measurement Product Group of Astro-Med designs, manufactures, and sells a broad range of high tech specialty data acquisition and printing systems employed around the world in a wide range of industrial, scientific, and medical applications.
