Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America, Southern CA Chapter Honors Leaders Who Make Breathing a Little Easier.LOS ANGELES -- Going the extra mile to make breathing a little easier, Dr. William Burke, Founder and President of the Los Angeles Marathon The Los Angeles Marathon is an annual marathon held in Los Angeles, California since 1986. It was inspired by the success of the 1984 Summer Olympics held in Los Angeles. The race starts at about 8:15AM and runs through Downtown Los Angeles, Koreatown, the Crenshaw district, and , will be honored by the Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA), Southern California Chapter. AAFA will present Dr. Burke with its 2005 Humanitarian Award at the Breath of Life Ball(TM) at the Beverly Hills Hotel The Beverly Hills Hotel is a hotel in Beverly Hills, CA, at 9641 Sunset Boulevard. It was opened on May 12, 1912 and started by Margaret J. Anderson and her son, Stanley S. Anderson, who had been managing the Hollywood Hotel. , Tuesday, November 29th. Dr. Burke has held several prominent positions as a businessman and as a political leader in Southern California. For more than 10 years he has committed his time and resources to the environment, by serving on the Board of the South Coast Air Quality Management District The South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD), formed in 1976, is the air pollution agency responsible mainly for regulating stationary sources of air pollution for most of Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Riverside County, and all of Orange county. (AQMD). Currently, he serves as Governing Board Chairman for the AQMD. He has also served as a Board Member for the State of California Air Resources Board California Air Resources Board (CARB) is the "clean air agency" of the state of California in the United States. Established originally in 1967, it is a part of the California Environmental Protection Agency, an organization which reports directly to the California , the Fire Commission of the City of Los Angeles
Dr. Burke will be honored at the annual event along with Andrew Saxon, MD, the founder of the Division of Clinical Immunology-Allergy at the UCLA School of Medicine, who will be presented with the Physician of the Year award. Currently, he serves as Co-Director of the Conjoint Adult/Pediatric training program in Allergy and Immunology overseeing a broad array of research scientists, faculty and technicians. And this year's Corporate Orchid Award will be given to Toyota.
