Astellas Pharma, Toyama Chemical Agree on Joint Development of Quinolone Antibiotic T-3811 in Japan.

) - Astellas Pharma Astellas Pharma Inc. (アステラス製薬株式会社   and Toyama Chemical jointly announced on January 26 that they have reached a basic agreement to collaborate in the development and sales of T-3811, Toyama Chemical's proprietary agent, in Japan.

Under the agreement terms, the two companies will jointly develop an oral preparation of T-3811. In addition, Astellas Pharma will make an upfront and milestone payments to Toyama Chemical.

The two companies aim to sign an official licensing agreement by March 31. A new type of quinolone antibiotic antibiotic, any of a variety of substances, usually obtained from microorganisms, that inhibit the growth of or destroy certain other microorganisms. Types of Antibiotics
, T-3811 has a wide antibacterial antibacterial /an·ti·bac·te·ri·al/ (-bak-ter´e-al) destroying or suppressing growth or reproduction of bacteria; also, an agent that does this.
