) - Astellas Pharma Astellas Pharma Inc. (アステラス製薬株式会社   announced on January 27 that the company has established Astellas Venture Management LLC (Logical Link Control) See "LANs" under data link protocol.

Capitalized at $67.5 million, AVM manages all venture investment business of former Yamanouchi Pharmaceutical and Fujisawa Pharmaceutical as well as newly established limited partnership Astellas Venture Fund I L.P.

AVM will discover venture companies with proprietary technologies and help them grow by utilizing Astellas' experience in and network of its biotechnology business. AVM will offer entrepreneurial venture firms not only investment funds but also the Astellas group's scientific and technical expertise, depth of drug development and marketing knowledge and long-term business perspective.
