Astea International appoints Robert C. Ingersoll Jr. vice president of corporate marketing.

Ingersoll brings to Astea a 16-year record of developing strategic marketing programs in the high technology industry. He comes to the company from SalesKit Software, a developer of remote sales force automation Automating the sales activities within an organization. A comprehensive SFA package provides such functions as contact management, note and information sharing, quick proposal and presentation generation, product configurators, calendars and to-do lists.  software, where he served as vice president of marketing since 1995. Ingersoll repositioned the company to focus on its compatibility and rapid deployment, raising its profile with industry analysts while forging marketing alliances with Microsoft and Oracle, among other companies.

Ingersoll also developed marketing alliances with Digital Equipment Corp., Novell and Hewlett-Packard, among others. Seagate Technologies bought Palindrome in 1994 for $70 million.

Before Mindscape, Ingersoll was a founder and developer of $25 million ComputerLand of Chicago and chairman of the franchisers' marketing council. He has also held product management positions at Procter & Gamble and Sara Lee Corporation, and was a senior account manager at the Chicago advertising agency Leo Burnett Company.
