The company's offices in Reigate, Paris, Dusseldorf and Houten complement Astea's existing direct operations in the US, Australia and New Zealand New Zealand (zē`lənd), island country (2005 est. pop. 4,035,000), 104,454 sq mi (270,534 sq km), in the S Pacific Ocean, over 1,000 mi (1,600 km) SE of Australia. The capital is Wellington; the largest city and leading port is Auckland. .

Astea's global strategy reflects the trend among companies in all industries to service their multinational customers as unified global accounts. With today's announcement, Astea becomes the only vendor in the customer interaction software market that can truly meet the needs of these global companies looking to establish consistent, customer-focused operations -- including sales, support and service -- worldwide.

With its headquarters in Philadelphia, Astea has more than 500 major corporate customers worldwide and employs approximately 250 people globally. In 1994 Astea's revenues were $22 million, and the company has experienced an extremely high growth rate - averaging 40 per cent per anum per anum (per a´num) [L.] through the anus.

"Customer interaction software is one of the fastest growing sectors of the software industry. Worldwide it will grow from over $1.3 billion in 1994 to a projected $3.3 billion by the end of 1998," said Zack Bergreen, president and chief executive officer of Astea International. "As we continue to expand to meet the needs of our customers worldwide, we see tremendous opportunity in Europe as companies invest in customer service to gain a competitive edge, and at the same time move from a departmental to an enterprise-wide approach. We believe that this trend will transform customer systems into strategic information clearinghouses for the entire organization worldwide."

Until now, Astea's European sales activity has been centered around Dispatch-1, the most widely used customer service system for call center management, contract administration, dispatching, logistics and financial management. With the creation of a direct sales presence, Astea will now offer its full ACES (Astea Customer Enterprise Series) product strategy. ACES includes Dispatch-1, Astea's PowerHelp client/server help desk software system, and its PowerSales sales and opportunity management tool.

Astea is the only company to provide a single enterprise-wide solution for managing and leveraging customer information from the sales, support and service functions. This enables companies to seamlessly integrate previously discrete islands of customer information, which can be used for everything from product development to pinpointing new markets.

In addition to expanding its market, the creation of a direct presence will increase Astea's customer service capabilities for Astea's existing European customers, which includes major IT companies such as Philips and Sorbus, for whom it supplies integrated corporate field service automation systems.

Astea will now be able to provide these customers with a larger pool of resources in Europe, including local language support and access to its worldwide support and services network. Headquartered in Chalfont, Pa., Astea also has regional offices in Bedford, Ma., Denver, Co., Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. , Ca., and San Mateo San Mateo (săn mətā`ō), city (1990 pop. 85,486), San Mateo co., W Calif., on San Francisco Bay; inc. 1894.
