Assumption University.

Windsor ON -- Assumption University of Windsor Ontario is what was left over when, in the early nineteen sixties, the government formed the University of Windsor and took over all teaching duties. But it still exists on paper and still has funds left over from the original take-over; its Basilian Board can still organize some events and grant honourary doctorate degrees.

This magazine has objected a number of times about the choice of some of the people honoured, such as awards to pro-abortion Jean Chretien, dissenting theologian Sandra Schneiders, and dissenting Catholic sociologist-theologian Gregory Baum. This fall, Assumption University conferred an honourary doctorate on Madam Justice Rosalie Abella, the hardline judicial activist appointed to the Supreme Court in August 2004 who--not surprisingly--totally supports sodo-matrimony. Once more we register our disapproval..
