), the first worldwide professional association for storage networking end users, is joining forces with UCSD's own StorageNetworking.org Initiative -- creating a single university-based community of practice focused on addressing the educational needs of data storage technology users.

"We're looking forward to working with the members of both organizations to manage this change," says StorageNetworking.org Director Ron Durbin. "Our most immediate goal will be to bring the 5,000 Storage Networking User Group (SNUG) participants together with the 2,600 ASNP chapter members at the local level. Once this is accomplished, we will continue to rely on our participants, both old and new, to lead StorageNetworking.org in the direction that most meets their educational and networking needs."

"For the past three and a half years, both organizations have done their very best to meet the educational needs of storage professionals worldwide," says ASNP Executive Director Daniel Delshad. "This market has evolved tremendously during that time -- both from a solution standpoint and from a professional development standpoint. We feel that the time is right to bring the members of our organizations together under a single banner, and we're delighted that this banner can be carried by such a prestigious university."

"What Daniel has done over these past few years to rally storage end users to the cause of professional development has been impressive," says Durbin. "Now the job falls to us to continue serving this diverse and vital professional community."

The ISIC is also pleased to announce that ASNP sponsors Brocade and QLogic have agreed to become Founding Sponsors of StorageNetworking.org. For more information about this change, including answers to commonly asked questions, go to http://www.storagenetworking.org/User_Groups/ASNP.asp.
