NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Standard & Poor's CreditWire 9/22/98-- Standard & Poor's today assigned its triple-'Bpi' insurer financial strength rating to Associates Financial Life Ins of Nevada.

Associates Financial Life Ins of Nevada is licensed only in Nevada, and commenced operations in 1979. The company assumes credit life business from its affiliate, Associates Financial Life Insurance Co. It is indirectly owned by Associates Corp. of North America North America, third largest continent (1990 est. pop. 365,000,000), c.9,400,000 sq mi (24,346,000 sq km), the northern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere. , a consumer and commercial finance organization indirectly owned by Ford Motor Co.

The following factors were incorporated in the rating of triple-'Bpi':

-- Capitalization capitalization n. 1) the act of counting anticipated earnings and expenses as capital assets (property, equipment, fixtures) for accounting purposes. 2) the amount of anticipated net earnings which hypothetically can be used for conversion into capital assets.  is extremely strong, as indicated by Standard & Poor's capital adequacy ratio Capital adequacy ratio (CAR), also called Capital to Risk (Weighted) Assets Ratio (CRAR)[], is a ratio of a bank's capital to its risk.
