Aging is the largest assisted living facility. Sunrise Sunrise, city (1990 pop. 64,407), Broward co., SE Fla., a residential suburb 8 mi (13 km) W of Fort Lauderdale; inc. 1961 as Sunrise Golf Village. It is a major office and commercial center and the site of Sawgrass Mills, one of the largest malls in the United States. Assisted Living
remains second on the list, with four Valley locations and 540 beds, 279
beds less than the Jewish Home. Sunrise is adding two more locations,
one in Studio City and one in Woodland Hills.
The Jewish Home also holds the title of oldest facility in the Valley, founded in 1912. The next oldest facility is Golden State Care Center, which was founded in 1968. THE PACESETTER LOS ANGELES JEWISH HOME FOR THE AGING IT will be a miracle when everyone can say that they know more people over the age of 100 than under 80 years old. The Los Angeles Jewish Home for the Aging can admit to just this. Of their current 804 residents, a majority of them have birth certificates dating before the year 1904, and the average age is 91 years old.
