Frovi Mill Will Use the PI System Platform to Create Applications

Supporting All Operational Areas in Their Pulp and Paper Complex

OSIsoft Inc., and RTM Norden Inc., announced that Assi Doman Carton Board AB, Frovi, Sweden has selected OSIsoft's PI System (PI) software as their Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) platform for real-time information management. They will use PI to deploy a number of high value applications developed both internally and by 3rd parties.

RTM Norden, Inc., Vancouver, Canada will manage the project to convert the existing information system and high value legacy applications to the PI platform. In less than four months they expect to complete the project that includes converting two hundred and forty graphic displays, six hundred thirty trend displays, thirty thousand tags and four hundred calculations.

OSIsoft Inc., San Leandro, California will supply the PI software including their new Application Framework SDK that will be used as the central development tool for application deployment.

Bengt Nilsson, Frovi Manager of Process Information Systems, summarized the mills requirements for their new information system. "Our vision is that our new info-system will support all mill personal with their need to find the data in a simple way from all required databases without knowledge of their internal structure. First of all process data but also data from other systems like sales systems, production tracking systems, maintenance systems, lab and financial systems. The structure and availability of data should be user dependent. The information-objects can be used directly from other systems and vice versa, communicating parameters in a context-sensitive way. All functionality will also be available on the Web. In short this info-system will have an application environment that makes it efficient for Frovi to create applications supporting all mill operations."
