Although the strategy is supported by many governments, institutions, and development partners, efforts to promote regional cooperation and integration in Africa have not been as effective as hoped. Prepared by the UN's Economic Commission for Africa Noun 1. Economic Commission for Africa - the commission of the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations that is concerned with economic development of African nations , this report examines some of the institutional barriers to regional integration and presents recommendations for reform.
