Assault victims' HIV blow.

VICTIMS of assault will not be allowed to find out if their attacker is infected with HIV HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus), either of two closely related retroviruses that invade T-helper lymphocytes and are responsible for AIDS. There are two types of HIV: HIV-1 and HIV-2. HIV-1 is responsible for the vast majority of AIDS in the United States.  or hepatitis.

The Scottish Executive has dropped plans to introduce the move after an expert group rejected the proposal.

The Executive planned to allow victims to ask procurator PROCURATOR, civil law. A proctor; a person who acts for another by virtue of a procuration. If not, the victim could seek a court order to get a blood test carried out.

The plan was originally recommended by the Scottish Police Federation.

But the chairman of the blood borne diseases working group, the Reverend Graham Forges, rejected the plan.
