Aspyr Media Inc. Ships Battlefield 1942 for Macintosh.


AUSTIN, Texas -- Aspyr Media Aspyr Media, Inc. (IPA: /əsˈpaɪər/) is an Austin, Texas based company that specializes in porting Windows games to the Mac OS platform.  Inc. is dropping gamers in the heart of World War II with the shipment of Battlefield 1942(TM) for the Mac. Battlefield 1942(TM), developed by Sweden-based developer Digital Illusions (DICE), presents the four main theaters of World War II: the Pacific, Eastern and Western Europe and Northern Africa. Battlefield 1942(TM): The Road To Rome expansion pack will also be included to make this one explosive package. Aspyr is publishing and distributing Battlefield 1942(TM) for the Mac under license from Electronic Arts. The Mac conversion is being handled internally, by Aspyr.

Battlefield 1942(TM) takes players to battle at land, sea and air, allowing them to choose from 16 famous battle sites, including Omaha Beach, Stalingrad and Wake Island. With the ability to control more than 35 authentic Axis and Allied vehicles and select from five distinct character classes, players are faced with incredible choices in their plan of action.  experience and focuses exclusively on the key, yet largely under publicized Italian and Sicilian campaigns. The Road to Rome includes more maps, more vehicles, and more fighting forces.

The game features a unique, robust multi-player component that supports up to 64 players on certain maps. Players have dozens of options in vehicles and weaponry to exert their superior power and defeat the enemy. Choose from fighter planes, dive-bombers, or heavy bombers to gain the edge in the air. Take control of the sea with battleships The list of battleships includes all battleships since 1859, listed alphabetically. The list also contains battlecruisers which share most of the characteristics of a battleship or have otherwise been referred to as battleships. , destroyers and landing craft.
