Asphalting work on historic Malan road starts in Herat.


HERAT Herat (hĕrät`), city (1984 est. pop. 161,000), capital of Herat prov., NW Afghanistan, on the Hari Rud. The fertile river valley is renowned for its fruits, especially grapes.  CITY (PAN): A historic road connecting Malan area to Guzrah district in western Herat province will be asphalted at a cost of $1.4 million, an official said Saturday.

 in the province told Pajhwok Afghan News the road is 12 km long and seven meters wide. He said the construction work over the road was launched on Saturday.

Construction of 15 bridges and supportive walls were also part of the project to be completed in a year time.
