AspenTech Announces New Release of Aspen Advisor.

Expanded reporting capabilities increase the value of AspenTech's leading yield accounting solution

Aspen Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:AZPN), the leading provider of Smart Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management software and services for the process industries, today announced version 4.2 of the Aspen Advisor(tm) yield accounting system. Designed for refining and petrochemical companies, Aspen Advisor 4.2 offers customers significantly expanded reporting capabilities. The new version is the latest release of the ADVISOR(tm) product AspenTech acquired with its March 1998 purchase of Houston, Texas-based IISYS, Inc.

Aspen Advisor is the refining and petrochemical industry's leading data reconciliation and yield accounting system. Combining object-oriented design and a knowledge-based reconciliation algorithm, Aspen Advisor tracks inventory and material movements into, through and out of process manufacturing plants. By reconciling information gathered from control systems such as AspenTech's DMCplus(tm) and other plant systems, Aspen Advisor enables customers to accurately report production data to ERP and other business systems.

Aspen Advisor combines an easy-to-use graphical interface operating under Microsoft Windows that enables plant engineers to model inventory and material movements, reconcile information from plant systems and generate reports with an object-oriented expert system that guides the reconciliation process. The Aspen Advisor data model is accessed via ODBC, and can therefore reside in almost all commercially available database structures, including Oracle, Sybase and Microsoft SQL Server.
