), a global leader in mission-critical call center solutions, today announced the formation of the IN (Intelligent Network) business unit to deliver network-based virtual call center solutions and enhanced services to its customers.

Additionally, the company has created an OEM and Intelligent Network channel to better reach telecommunications carriers with its IN solutions. These organizational changes are a direct result of Aspect's acquisition of Voicetek Corporation of Chelmsford, Mass., on May 11, 1998.

With these IN initiatives, Aspect will now be able to focus on integrated solutions for network service providers who want to deploy value-added applications -- such as IVR (Interactive Voice Response) An automated telephone information system that speaks to the caller with a combination of fixed voice menus and data extracted from databases in real time.  (interactive voice response) and automatic call distribution -- on the PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) The worldwide voice telephone network. The scope of Aspect's IN business unit will encompass three distinct market areas: the Advanced Intelligent Network for telcos; the Internet and Web; and solutions for virtual private networks. The group will be responsible for a full range of new and existing virtual call center products, including Generations-based network IVR solutions, the MaxReach suite of enhanced services applications and call center solutions deployed on the network for the delivery of "virtual call centers." Aspect acquired many of these products as part of its recent acquisition of Voicetek Corporation, a leading provider of software platforms and applications solutions.

In addition to developing new products, Aspect's IN business unit will leverage partnerships to deliver end-to-end solutions on a worldwide basis. Central to the group's strategy is its commitment to develop and maintain close relationships with international sales channel partners, such as system integrators, OEMs and VARs, who can provide complementary product solutions, local account management, and rapid response to customer service. Current partners include Stratus, Digital/Compaq, Volt Delta, Nortel and Group 2000.

As part of its commitment to the IN market, Aspect also announced the formation of a new OEM and Intelligent Network channel. Its efforts will focus on sales and distribution to OEMs such as Nortel and Digital that source IN technology directly to telecommunications service providers.

Dan Poranski will head the IN business unit as general manager. Most recently, Poranski was vice president of Marketing at Voicetek Corporation. Sheldon Dinkes will head the OEM and Intelligent Network channel as a corporate vice president. Dinkes was formerly chief executive officer of Voicetek Corporation. Poranski and Dinkes will both report to Dennis Haar, president and chief operating officer Chief Operating Officer (COO)
