Aspect Communications Names Beatriz V. Infante Chairman to Succeed Founder James R. Carreker.

Aspect Communications Corporation (Nasdaq:ASPT), the leading provider of customer relationship portals -- a contact server for managing dynamic customer contact transactions across all wired and wireless communication channels -- today announced that Beatriz V. Infante, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Aspect, has been named to the additional post of chairman of Aspect's board of directors. As chairman, Infante succeeds company founder James R. Carreker who is retiring from the board after more than 15 years of service to Aspect.

Carreker founded Aspect in August 1985 and served as its president and CEO from inception through 1995, then as CEO and chairman until April 2000, when Infante was promoted to president and CEO. Infante joined Aspect in October 1998 as executive vice president of products and services and became president of the company in June 1999. She is currently the president and CEO with responsibility for providing leadership and operational direction for the company. Prior to Aspect, she held leadership positions at companies such as Oracle Corporation and Hewlett-Packard Company. She holds degrees in computer science and engineering from Princeton University and the California Institute of Technology. She also serves on the board of directors of the Silicon Valley Manufacturing Group and is on the advisory board of the Princeton University School of Engineering.
