Asia Pacific Resources commences additional reconnaissance drilling program, initial results indicate potential for significant tonnage increase.VANCOUVER, BC--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 10, 1995--ASIA PACIFIC RESOURCES (TSE See Tokyo Stock Exchange. It has a population of 142,670. potash potash: see potassium carbonate. potash Name used for various inorganic compounds of potassium, chiefly the carbonate (K2CO3), a white crystalline material formerly obtained from wood ashes. concession in northeast Thailand. Holes for this program are drilled uncased and preliminary interpretation is by use of gamma-logs. When potash is intersected, the hole is "twinned" and the potash zone is cored for assay purposes. Three of the drillholes have been completed to date and the preliminary results are very encouraging. Hole no. 56, located about 3 kms southeast of K-83, intersected a sylvinite sylvinite: see potassium chloride. interval exceeding 11 metres, at a depth of 248 m, while hole no. 55, 7 kms east-southeast of K-83, intersected two sylvinite seams, 2.2 m and 3.7m, at depths of 88m and 93m respectively. Both holes will now be cored for assaying. The third hole (no. 54), located 6 kms southeast of K-83, also intersected three thin sylvinite bands. It is not proposed to core and assay this hole. Hole K-83 intersected two thick seams of sylvinite at depths below 255m. These seams were 5.4m and 6.1m thick and assayed at 25.8% K2O and 28.5% respectively. The company is optimistic that significant additional resources exist in this area. Such resources may form a separate potash "pool" or may be an extension of the resource currently being evaluated to the southeast, where in excess of 200 million tonnes of sylvinite has now been identified. Further results are being received from the on-going exploration programs for the initial resource evaluation in the main project area. Drilling and assay results for these drillholes will be available shortly. To date, less than 3% of the company's concession area has been examined in detail, leaving considerable potential for major expansion of potash resources developed to date. "Gerald D.
