The results tabulated include those from the four additional pipes along with the three pipes reported earlier (K2, K4A and K14) and one further analysis of pipe K14. The samples have been selected at representative intervals from within long intersections of kimberlite. They have been analyzed by the caustic dissolution process in the Ashton group laboratories in North Vancouver North Vancouver, city (1991 pop. 38,436), SW British Columbia, Canada, on Burrard Inlet of the Strait of Georgia, opposite Vancouver, of which it is a suburb. Shipbuilding, woodworking, and the shipping of grain, lumber, and ore are the chief industries.  and Perth, Australia Perth may refer to:
  • Perth, Western Australia, the capital of the Australian state of Western Australia
  • City of Perth, a Local Government Area in and around the central business district of Perth
. Samples have been prepared singly for caustic dissolution, then processed as a batch and the residues from each sample observed microscopically as a final step. Check samples are being analyzed at present by an external laboratory. -0-

(xx) Macrodiamonds refer to diamonds recovered with one dimension
equal to or greater than 0.5 mm. The four largest macrodiamonds from
pipe K14 measure 1.5, 0.9, 0.8, and 0.8 millimetres in maximum
dimension, and the largest from pipe K6 measures 1.0 millimetre.

Microdiamonds have been found in six of the seven pipes analysed so far, which is a clear indication that this new kimberlite field is prospective for diamonds. Results from such small samples, however, do not provide enough information to determine grade and quality, and significantly larger samples are required to evaluate the potential for commercial operation.

The summer program will be finalized See finalization.  when results from analyses of the remaining four pipes found last winter become available over the next few weeks. Many geophysical anomalies similar to those over the pipes found so far remain to be drilled. Work on some of these will commence in June, along with further examination of those pipes already defined.
