Founded in 1959, the company is best known for their line of adjustable tactical sights used by military and law enforcement  (MMC See MultiMediaCard and Microsoft Management Console. ) as manager and head of research and development, effect April, 2003.

Mr. Emerson's broad experience has earned him the appellation "Sight Guy" in the industry. Responsible for such innovations as the MMC Adjustable Combat Sight Line for pistols and shotguns (now sold by MMC) and the Ashley Express and Aperture Sights, Mr. Ashley's designs now account for more than 400 part numbers in the famous Brownell catalogue.

Ashley's formal education in Criminal Justice and Industrial Technology provided him with a foundation which he utilized to build vast hands-on experience in law enforcement, firearms training schools, hunting from Alaska to South Africa. His experience is not limited to the world of firearms-related activities. IWI manufactures the leading line of low-light and no-light gun sights, utilizing tritium tritium (trĭt`ēəm), radioactive isotope of hydrogen with mass number 3. The tritium nucleus, called a triton, contains one proton and two neutrons. It has a half-life of 12.5 years and decays by beta-particle emission.  (a radioactive isotope of hydrogen) to produce phosphorous-illuminated open gun sights under the brand name, "P-T P-T Pressure-Temperature (thermodynamics diagram)  Night Sights." The sights are suitable for installation on a wide variety of firearms. MMC manufactures precision-machined adjustable gun sights, which may have added to them the low-light and no-light features of the fixed-sight IWI. MMC precision adjustable gun sights are favorites among serious sportsmen and hobbyists. Mr. Emerson's duties include overseeing both gun sight product lines.
