Ashbury International Group Wins US Army Contract for Laser Target Locator System.

STERLING, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 15, 2004

The US Army awarded Ashbury International Group Inc. a five-year contract valued at up to $155.8 million for advanced binocular binocular, small optical instrument consisting of two similar telescopes mounted on a single frame so that separate images enter each of the viewer's eyes. As with a single telescope, distant objects appear magnified, but the binocular has the additional advantage  laser range-finder A laser range-finder is a device which uses a laser beam in order to determine the distance to a reflective object. The most common form of laser range-finder operates on the time of flight principle by sending a laser pulse in a narrow beam towards the object and measuring the  systems. The contract, which calls for delivery of 693 units this year, follows previous US Army awards to Ashbury for laser range-finder systems for global troop combat deployments.

The VECTOR 21 is an enhanced version of the VIPER binocular laser range finder, which saw significant use by Coalition forces in Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) and most recently by special operations forces Those Active and Reserve Component forces of the Military Services designated by the Secretary of Defense and specifically organized, trained, and equipped to conduct and support special operations.
