Aseptic Long-Stroke Unit Handles Three Layers.

The first multi-layer, long-stroke, aseptic blow molding machine from the Hesta Div. of Graham Machinery Group, York, Pa., can produce 32-oz food containers in 12 cavities. The Hesta mono-layer model has only 10 cavities. The new Hesta Long-Stroke Double HLD-700 machine uses sterilized air to blow three-layer bottles. Its aseptic and mutli-layer extrusion technology is derived from Graham's wheel machines.

Features include three extruders, up to 700-mm stroke, and PLC controls. The machine is built at the Hesta plant in Germany. One unit is being assembled for a customer in Turkey that will produce an HDPE bottle with a black middle layer sandwiched between white inner and outer surfaces. The black HDPE prevents spoilage by sunlight and provides at least three-months shelf life.
