Aseff for mobilizing resources for development.

ISLAMABAD, November 12, 2009 (Balochistan Times): Deputy Chairman Planning Commission, Sardar Aseff Ahmed Ali on Thursday said that Pakistan has mobilized all its resources in the war against extremism to eradicate the menace of terrorism from the country. He said that the area of FATA bordering Pakistan and Afghanistan is practically a war zone. He was chairing a meeting on Priority Framework and Plan of Action for stabilizing Afghanistan and Pakistan bordering areas through agriculture and rural sector recovery and development here. War cannot be won with the weapons only, it can be won by engaging all the people at all the levels of rehabilitation and resettlement of the affected people, he said. Economic development should immediately follow the military operation, he said. We are doing our best to win the people, if our friends in International Community want to help us they should understand these realities, he added. He appreciated the project of FAO for agriculture and rural sector recovery. We are an agriculture economy, such projects can help a lot in improvement of the Agri Sector and ultimately in poverty alleviation, he added. As the programme is aimed at providing access to primary health and education to the section of society deprived of basic social services. The programme will work in collaboration with the Rural Support Programme. The Deputy Chairman PC said that Planning Commission is the think tank of government and working on 10 five year plan. The main emphasis of the plan is to include all the sectors of the economy into mainstream through public-private partnership . Since development and Security are closely related, Deputy Chairman urged the PFPA to try to utilize the local expertise available, and with the participation of the local people who can describe their resources in more effective way.
