Ascom i75 Becomes the First VoWiFi Handset with Cisco Compatible Extension (CCX) Test Approval.


GOTHENBURG, Sweden -- The Ascom i75 Voice over Wi-Fi Transmitting IP-based telephone calls (VoIP) over a Wi-Fi network. Voice over Wi-Fi (Vo-Fi) provides enhancements to the 802.11 standards for handling the real time environment of voice calls. With a single mode Vo-Fi phone, users can make calls only within a Wi-Fi hotspot.  (VoWiFi) handset has successfully passed the Cisco Systems(R) certification test for the Cisco(R) Compatible Extensions (CCX (Cisco Compatible EXtensions) Specifications for makers of 802.11 wireless LAN chips for ensuring compliance with Cisco's proprietary wireless LAN protocols. For example, Cisco's LEAP and EAP-FAST are part of CCX. See EAP. ) program, version 2, for Application Specific Devices (ASDs). KeyLabs provided the testing and consulting services necessary to verify that the product meets the criteria of the Cisco Compatible Extensions See CCX.  program. The CCX certification by KeyLabs ensures that the Ascom i75 handset is interoperable with a Cisco WLAN infrastructure - supporting the latest WLAN standards and Cisco innovations for enhanced security, mobility, quality of service, and network management.

For the user, the Ascom i75 handset is compact, robust and easy to use. It is designed for tough working environments, specifically in the healthcare and secure establishment market. The i75 puts voice communications, advanced messaging and alarm services at the users' fingertips "Fingertips" is a 1963 number-one hit single recorded live by "Little" Stevie Wonder for Motown's Tamla label. To simplify administration, which always has been an awkward issue for telephony and IT administrators, Ascom has developed a Portable Device Manager (PDM (1) (Product Data Management) An information system used to manage the data for a product as it passes from engineering to manufacturing. The data includes plans, geometric models, CAD drawings, images, NC programs as well as all related project data, notes and ) appliance that enables an overview of all handsets status, parameter settings and software levels. Any change or software upgrade can be made centrally for individual or in block user via the web access to the PDM.
