Northrup Grumman IT, Siemens Transportation Systems' Integrated Local Government Division, Telos Corporation, Fortress Technologies, and Symbol Technologies have committed to tentative partnership collaborations on such areas as sales, marketing, promotions, business development, project and technology development around Ascentry's FUSION communications software (communications, software) communications software - Application programs, operating system components, and probably firmware, forming part of a communication system. These different software components might be classified according to the functions within the Open Systems  suite.

The FUSION software suite enables different agencies to use secure video, data and voice to manage emergency incidents as well as day-to-day public safety and physical security operations. Communication systems powered by the FUSION suite are interoperable, cost-effective, upgradeable, and can incorporate new and existing infrastructure.

Emergency response experts have long advocated interoperable systems between military, fire, police, and EMS agencies as a critical step in improving America's ability to communicate, cooperate, and coordinate in times of crisis.
