Ascentia Reaches New Heights in Cardiovascular Information Management; Heartlab Introduces the First Fully Web-Based Cardiovascular Information System.

WESTERLY, R.I. -- Heartlab announced today that it will preview its new Ascentia cardiovascular information system at the 54th Annual Scientific Session of the American College of Cardiology The American College of Cardiology (ACC) is a nonprofit medical association established in 1949 to educate, research and influence health care public policy. The president for the 2006–2007 year is Steven E. Nissen. [1] The organization has 39 chapters in the U.S. , taking place March 6-9th in Orlando. The Ascentia line provides a complete package of the industry's most advanced multimodality image analysis tools, comprehensive digital reporting, and secure portal access to patient records delivered via a web-based technology that improves access and reduces system administration.

Ascentia Portal revolutionizes the way we think about web-based access to images and information. Using new approaches to system architecture, Portal delivers full diagnostic quality DICOM (medical, standard) DICOM - (From Digital Imaging and COmmunications in Medicine) A standard developed by ACR-NEMA (American College of Radiology - National Electrical Manufacturer's Association) for communications between medical imaging devices.  images to virtually any PC on the inter/intranet. Heartlab's new compression-on-demand technology delivers over 10 different levels of lossless See lossless compression.

(algorithm, compression) lossless - A term describing a data compression algorithm which retains all the information in the data, allowing it to be recovered perfectly by decompression.

Unix compress and GNU gzip perform lossless compression.
and lossy compression A compression technique that does not decompress data back to 100% of the original. Lossy methods provide high degrees of compression and result in very small compressed files, but there is a certain amount of loss when they are restored.  on the fly directly from the original images in the DICOM archive. Storing additional compressed copies of images has been totally eliminated.

Ascentia WorkStation enables easy access to diagnostic-quality images and robust review tools for multiple cardiology and vascular imaging exams. WorkStation introduces new user-configurable measurement protocols and robust vascular features such as bolus bolus /bo·lus/ (bo´lus)

2. a concentrated mass of pharmaceutical preparation, e.

Ascentia Results Management offers tightly integrated, structured reporting which allows physicians to create reports digitally while reviewing cases on-line. Integrated reporting optimizes workflow, decreases turnaround time (1) In batch processing, the time it takes to receive finished reports after submission of documents or files for processing. In an online environment, turnaround time is the same as response time.  of reports, and improves information management. The repository of cardiology image data can be mined quickly and easily, transforming clinical data into meaningful information for statistical analysis, research and presentations.

Also, as a work-in-progress, Heartlab will be showing the Ascentia HeartStation(TM) to handle digital ECG ECG electrocardiogram.

management for electrocardiograms from any vendor's ECG equipment. With HeartStation, ECG studies are stored, read, interpreted and archived as part of a patient's web-accessible electronic medical record. The HeartStation combines a dynamic new user interface with the industry's best image acquisition and analysis algorithms for versatile, vendor-neutral, enterprise-wide ECG management that promotes paperless workflow for cardiology. HeartStation is easy to use, and ensures consistent, host-based interpretation of ECGs, no matter what brand of cart.
