Ascent Logic Corporation Announces Favorable Revenue & Profit Performance for Second Quarter 1995.

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 12, 1995--Ascent Logic Corporation, the leader in system design engineering software products and consulting services, today announced that revenue for the second quarter was the highest for any second quarter in the company's history.

Revenue for the calendar quarter ended June 30 was 53% above first quarter revenue, and 39% above revenue for the comparable prior year quarter. The company noted especially strong revenue increases in its professional consulting and training segments. As a result of the increase in revenue, the company also realized a significant turnaround improvement in profitability. Current year second quarter results were profitable, compared to a loss for the prior year second quarter.

During the quarter ended June 30, Ascent Logic established Strategic Business Units to provide concentrated direct focus on the company's expansion plans in its three primary target markets: Client Server, Telecommunication, and Federal Systems. The new focus will enable the company to respond rapidly as it expands into the commercial marketplace. The managers of each of the SBUs report directly to the company's Senior Vice President of Sales, Pat Lambs.

Ascent Logic selected Servio, Inc. as the provider of a data base that will be incorporated in Ascent's future product line, which has been designated RDD-2000. Development work on the new product line is underway, with completion currently expected during the first half of calendar 1996. The company is also planning to release version 4.1 of its RDD-100 line during the fourth quarter of 1995.

Larry McArthur, president and CEO of the company since February, said, "Ascent Logic is poised to make significant inroads into new commercial markets during the second half of 1995. We have just recently received a significant order -- nearly $1 million -- from a new commercial customer in the financial services industry for our new process (for which we have a patent pending) software and services for reverse engineering mainframe Legacy COBOL systems. This is an important new thrust for the company, and a real breakthrough for customers struggling with Legacy COBOL problems, conversions from main frame to client server, and especially those with Year 2000 problems."
