ALAMEDA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 12, 1995--Ascend Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: ASND), a leading supplier of high-speed digital access equipment, and Global Enterprise Services, Inc. (GES), a leading provider of Internet access and internetworking solutions based in Princeton, NJ, today announced a strategic alliance to provide integrated Internet services worldwide with a specific focus on the growing market in Latin America.

The alliance will include joint domestic and international marketing programs focused on providing a full range of Internet services and solutions to corporate, academic, and government institutions.

Under terms of the agreement, GES will install Ascend's MAX remote access server products in its Points-of-Presence (POPs) worldwide and will market, sell and distribute Ascend's MAX and Pipeline remote access products in numerous Latin American countries, including Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela, Peru, Chile, Columbia and Puerto Rico, as well as in the U.S. The initial roll out of GES' services in Latin America, including its JvNCnet high-speed Internet network and Ascend's remote access equipment, will take place in Mexico City later this month.

The alliance will provide Ascend's channel partners with the opportunity to deliver a full range of Internet services and solutions through GES, including high-speed connectivity to private corporate networks. GES will benefit from Ascend's worldwide sales, support and marketing presence and its industry-leading remote access and telecommuting equipment. Additionally, GES will serve as an official Ascend Communications beta test center and internetworking training facility.
